Point of View

05/17/2007

This supplement to EndoNurse magazine is a special issue, one dedicated to the individual nurses, technicians, and physicians who make work a pleasure.

These “most valuable professionals” (MVPs) include healthcare workers who stand out above all others. They may be exceptional because of their skill, compassion, and ability to encourage the best from their peers, supervisors and subordinates. They are innovators, coordinators, researchers, and volunteers.

This issue celebrates sterile processing techs who reprocess scopes properly and in record time; nurses and techs who are always helpful, full of good ideas, and available in a pinch; and physicians who are a dream to work with, who appreciate the efforts of their support staff.

EndoNurse has a long-standing practice of honoring the best of the best, but for most of the last six years, our cover has featured teams of nurses, rather than individuals. We wanted to take the time to pay tribute to those exceptional people who exemplify the best of their teams.

Not only do they support their team members, but these people make gastroenterology procedures more tolerable for the patients, who are scared, hungry, dehydrated, tired, and cranky.

So cheers to all of our MVPs, who exemplify the best of what endoscopy has to offer.

Here’s to healthy butts and guts,
Kathy Dix
