The Acticon NeoSphincter is a surgically implanted system that enables patients with severe fecal incontinence to control their bowel movements to occur at appropriate times in convenient places. The silicone elastomer components consist of a golf ball-sized reservoir, pump, cuff, tubing, and connectors. The reservoir contains fluid which is controlled by the wearer, to block or unblock the passageway for solid bodily waste. No part of the system is visible on the outside of the body. The system works by enabling the wearer to feel the implanted pump, squeeze the fluid from the cuff into the reservoir, which allows a passageway to open and waste to be released. Afterward, the cuff automatically recloses and the fluid flows back to the cuff.
Beutlich Pharmaceutical Products has designed a spray and a spray kit that suppress the gag reflex. The 2 oz. Spray is used where larger areas of anesthesia are needed and is designed to reach the assessable mucosa more easily. One can provides an estimated 200 one-second applications, featuring a wild cherry flavor. It is environmentally safe, contains no CFCs and no prescription is necessary. The kit includes 200 disposable extension tubes that help eliminate potential cross contamination and aid in infection control.
The DeHardCap Safety Syringe can be activated at any point after insertion into a patient, whether or not the injection has been completed. This action will insure that the needle tip will be capped immediately after the needle tip clears the patient's skin. According to company officials, the device is currently the only safety syringe that activates before the injection is complete. The device is also compatible with most syringes on the market, allowing medical institutions to continue purchasing their syringes through their standard process. Afterward, the safety device can be attached. Also, the device is does not interfere with the basic operation of the syringe because it is compact and stored at the needle hub before activation. 
Spot is reportedly the only FDA-approved tattooing or benchmarking product for the GI tract. The Rotator has one-handed maneuverability and a proprietary "memory metal" that allows the instrument to be manipulated to the correct orientation by twisting the handle in the appropriate direction. There are no thumb-wheels that require two-handed operation. This reportedly helps eliminate the need for repositioning.
Wilson-Cook Medical GI Endoscopy has designed an endoscopic biliary stent system that is preloaded and expandable. It delivers a radial force and fluoroscopic visualization. It features 8.5 FR introduction system that can be used with a therapeutic 3.2mm channel endoscope, a stainless steel spiral design that allows for greater flexibility during placement, and silver radiopaque markers that are located along the stent for optimal fluoroscopic visualization.
