CIDEX OPA has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a 5-minute processing time when used in automatic endoscope reprocessors (AERs).

The low-vapor solution must be used at a minimum of 25 degrees C or 77 degrees F in the AER. The announcement highlights a 7-minute reduction in processing time, making CIDEX OPA the fastest non-glutaraldehyde high-level disinfectant available for medical device reprocessing.

Testing has shown the solution is nonsensitizing, nonirritating and requires no activation or mixing. It has a 14-day reuse life, a 75-day open-bottle life and a 2-year shelf life.
