ENDO ALL STARS
08/01/2003
In 1967, when St. Anthony Hospital’s Endoscopy Department opened and treated its first patient, Anna Suchanek, RN, was there. In fact, she assisted on the case. Today, some 36 years later, she is still a full-time member of the 10-person team. Marva Harrison, RN, BSN, CGRN and director of endoscopy at the facility, says Suchanek’s dedication is representative of the overall excellence shown by her all-stars. “Our team members are from varied nursing backgrounds, but bring essential elements to our department,” she says. “They strive to continue their education and expand their knowledge, not only in our specialized field, but in all areas of patient care. The team collaborates with physicians and other departments within the hospital to provide the highest standard of patient care possible.” Besides Suchanek and Harrison, other members of the team include: Lisa Underwood, RN; Phyllis Dutton, RN; Edana Wilson, RN; Anginetta Lawshe, ST; Karianne Frye, ST; Thomas Varughese, ST; and Dana Christal, preoperative clerk.
In addition to national honors, each St. Anthony’s endoscopy RN is ACLS certified. “They are excellent stewards of our financial budget, as well as innovative in standardization of departmental processes,” Harrison says. “The team sets quality goals and sets out to achieve those goals. I am proud to be a part of this dynamic team.” Congratulations St. Anthony’s Endoscopy All Stars! For more information about St. Anthony’s Hospital, visit: www.saintsok.com.
