Are there any articles related to RNs as the first assist during PEG insertion?
02/19/2008
Q: Are there any articles related to RNs as the first assist during a PEG insertion? A: First, be sure to refer to your state board of nursing to ensure that the PEG insertion falls within the scope of practice for an RN in your state. If it does, refer to SGNA’s position statement, “The Role of the Nurse/Associate in the Placement of Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Tube (2006).” See www.sgna.org as well as the SGNAManual of GI Procedures section on percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) and percutaneous endoscopic jejunostomy (PEJ). Procedure manuals are available through the SGNA Marketplace. --Bradley Catalone Notice to Readers: Olympus America Inc. welcomes the opportunity to provide this information for your background and knowledge.
