New Ostomy Pouch Improves the Lives of Colostomates and Ileostomates

04/03/2008

NAPLES, Fla. -- Introduced at the National Ostomy Conference in Chicago, the new EZ-Clean pouch can be cleaned fast, efficiently and hygienically.

Currently, colostomates and ileostomates must clean their pouch by hand. It is an unpleasant and time-consuming task.

Because the Schena EZ-Clean system can be cleaned without ever touching the pouch contents, colostomates feel much cleaner, and it is a much more pleasant experience for them. It has a tremendous psychological effect on the ostomate.

The EZ-Clean system was invented by Ken Schena for his own use. After testing the system himself and seeing the huge improvement to his quality of life, he started a company to offer his product to others.

"We have seen ostomates' lives change dramatically after using the EZ-Clean System. They get their life back and are no longer reclusive. Its use brings much greater normalcy to the lives of colostomates and ileostomates," says Schena.

Benefits
FAST: The entire process takes only 30 seconds to three minutes (versus 30 minutes via the current/conventional methods).
EASY: Simply sit, open the pouch over the toilet, attach the water feed, and press the trigger. The inlet can also be used to vent accumulated gas pressure in the pouch.
HYGIENIC: It completely cleans the pouch and stoma area and eliminates the need for direct contact with waste.
CONVENIENT: It allows prolonged pouch use with minimal effort.
COMFORTABLE: The pouch remains physically attached to the body throughout the process.
PORTABLE: A portable hook-up allows for travel.

How it Works
The system is accessed through an inlet opening on the top of the pouch -- to which a water source is attached. The person sits on the toilet, directs the pouch drain into the bowl, and opens it. The water valve trigger is pressed and a special manifold in the bag creates water turbulence that washes away waste and cleans the stoma area. Gentle rubbing on the bag exterior in the area surrounding the stoma assures total cleansing. This is all there is to the simple process!
