Natural Orifice Surgery Conference Planned for July

OAK BROOK, Ill.—The Natural Orifice Surgery Consortium for Assessment and Research® (NOSCAR®), a joint effort of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), will hold its 4th International Conference on NOTES® July 9-11, 2009, in Boston. NOTES® is performed by using the patient’s natural openings for surgery.

The conference program includes discussion and reporting opportunities for the NOSCAR® Working Groups that address the various challenges inherent in the introduction of this new technique, such as platform development, training and complications. In addition, research updates from NOTES® grant recipients will be presented. Interested participants also will have the opportunity to register for the NOTES® Hands-On Course and learn more about this cutting-edge technique or learn new techniques.
