The United States is facing a nursing shortage of mass proportions, and many universities are stepping up grant and education programs to fill need vacancies.
The College of Nursing at Michigan State University will receive more than $1.1 million from the Michigan Nursing Corps. The grants aim to address the critical shortage of nursing faculty, enhance the nursing workforce in Michigan, and accelerate degree completion of graduate students.
The three grants awarded to the College of Nursing will increase the number of nurse faculty available to educate nurses in Michigan and assist students who have been laid off from jobs.
In North Carolina, the University of NC Wilmington is filling nursing vacancies through Camp BONES, which is a unique answer to the call for minority nurses throughout North Carolina and the nation.
