The American Cancer Society's annual cancer statistics show overall declines in cancer death rates in the last 14-15 years. These stats are available online and will also appear in the July/August print issue of CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, according to the Web site, The Medical News.
Death rates for men decreased by 19.2 percent between 1990 and 2005, mostly because of decreases in lung, prostate, and colorectal cancers, and decreased in women by 11.4 percent between 1991 and 2005, due to decreases in breast and colorectal cancer, The Medical News reports.
